Dutch artist Riet Wijnen visually maps a series of imagined historic conversations about abstraction in this striking and complex sculptural installation. Spanning three meters across the gallery floor, the Merbau frame is made up of 16 concentric squares, each freestanding and supporting over 80 unique colored modules.

This exhibition copy was created by Feather Edge in a close yet international correspondence with Wijnen. Project managed by the 21st Biennale of Sydney, it was exhibited at the Art Gallery NSW in 2018.
